2022/23 Premier League Breakout Stars Pt 5: The Up And Coming Players Who Could Shine This Season

This is our final post looking at some of the players who could have breakout seasons in the Premier League.

The English top-flight is full of top-quality talent and to really shine in one of the best leagues in the world, you have to have something about you.

Two of the players on our list today are high-profile summer signings, but we have also included a couple of youngsters who are poised to make a big impact this campaign.

Press the next page as we go through the players who could make a name for themselves at Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, West Ham and Wolves.

Cameron Archer – Aston Villa

The 20-year-old had a very good loan spell at Preston North End last season, scoring seven times in 20 appearances, and he also impressed for England’s Under 21s, scoring four goals in four matches during the summer internationals.

Villa boss Steven Gerrard has only given Archer cameo roles off the bench so far this campaign, but that could change if his other forwards continue to misfire in front of goal.

Eberechi Eze – Crystal Palace

The midfielder spent a long spell out with an Achilles tendon injury which limited him to only 13 league appearances for the Eagles last season, but he has started this campaign in very good form.

Eze has two assists in seven games so far, and he will be looking to get some goals to his name as the season goes on. Certainly one to look out for.

Lucas Paqueta – West Ham

The 25-year-old is a regular starter for Brazil, and the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City were keeping tabs on the player, but he made the switch to the London Stadium in the days leading up to the transfer deadline.

Paqueta could turn out to be West Ham’s record signing, if all the add-ons are paid, so the Hammers have taken a risk on the player adapting to English football, but he possesses the quality to make an impact in the Premier League.

Matheus Nunes – Wolves

Another Portuguese import who looks poised to make a name for himself at the Midlands club. The likes of Liverpool and Chelsea were linked with the midfielder in the summer, and Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola is a big fan.

When the Citizens faced Nunes’s former side Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League last campaign, Guardiola described the 24-year-old as “one of the best” players in the world.
