4 Premier League Stars Make Forbes’ List Of The ‘World’s Highest Paid Soccer Players’ For 2022

American business magazine Forbes released their list Of the ‘World’s Highest Paid Soccer Players’ earlier this month.

Four Premier League footballers made the top ten and, in this post today, we will name the players in question and provide a breakdown of their earnings.

All of the names on our list are earning double-digit millions per year from their wages and sponsorship deals, which demonstrates the growth of English football over the past thirty years.

4) Kevin De Bruyne – Manchester City – $29m A Year

The Belgian international signed a £400,000 a week contract in April last year making him the second highest-paid player in the Premier League based on salary.

His $4m worth of sponsorship deals, though, mean he doesn’t earn enough from his off-pitch activities to be ranked higher in Forbes’ list.

3) Erling Haaland – Manchester City – $39m A Year

There is still some debate about the Norwegian striker’s salary. Forbes claim he is earning around $35m a year, which works out to be around £600,000 a week.

Haaland does receive a bit of income from sponsors as well, with an estimated $4m being earned away from the football pitch, but that figure is likely to rise now he is a prominent player in the world’s most high-profile league.

2) Mo Salah – Liverpool – $53m A Year

According to Forbes, the Egyptian international actually earns $18m a year in endorsements, and combined with the new £350,000 a week contract that he signed earlier this year, he is the second highest earner in English football.

Salah’s profile is extremely high, particularly in the Arab world, so his sponsorship income is not a surprise but even his earnings are eclipsed massively by the star who finishes top of our list.

1) Cristiano Ronaldo – Manchester United – $100m A Year

The Portuguese legend is in the headlines again following his actions during United’s win against Tottenham. After being left on the substitutes’ bench by manager Erik ten Hag, he stormed down the tunnel before full-time.

Ronaldo’s lack of game time hasn’t impacted his earning potential so far, though. He actually earns more from sponsorship deals ($60m) than from his salary ($40m), meaning his annual income is almost double that of Salah.
