6 Premier League Players With The Most Hat-Tricks

A Premier League hattrick isn’t easy to come by. Not many players have done it – even fewer have done it more than once.

Today, we’ll be taking a look at the players who’ve scored the most hattricks in Premier League history. Can you guess who number one is?

Michael Owen

Michael Owen came into football with all the potential in the world. Many believe he never reached the heights he should’ve – but regardless, his natural talent cannot be overstated.

The former England striker netted eight hattricks in the Premier League. During the course of his career, he played for teams such as Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle.

Now, he’s perhaps best known for his uninspiring punditry – a real shame, when you consider what Owen was when he came on the scene and what his career could’ve been had it not been for the injuries he suffered.

Harry Kane

The only current Premier League player in this list, Harry Kane still has plenty of time to gain ground on the rest of the pack. As things stand, however, the Spurs icon has scored eight Premier League hattricks.

A fantastic centre forward with very few flaws to his game, Kane is as good at scoring goals as he is at fashioning chances for his teammates. He lacks pace, but his positional sense makes up for it.

He’s been at Tottenham his whole career, perhaps to his detriment. For all his talents, Kane has yet to collect a single piece of major silverware.

Thierry Henry

Arguably the greatest striker in Premier League history, it’s very easy to sound like a broken record when waxing lyrical about Thierry Henry.

Despite this, he doesn’t have the most hattricks in the Premier League. During his time at Arsenal, Henry scored three times in one game on eight occasions.

Perhaps he would’ve scored more had he stayed in England for a little while longer – he moved to Barcelona in 2007, where he went on to score 35 La Liga goals in 80 games.

Robbie Fowler

Nomadic Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler wasn’t known as ‘God’ by Reds fans for no reason. When Fowler was through on goal, there was only ever going to be one outcome.

An excellent finisher with brilliant movement off the ball, he also played for teams such as Leeds, Manchester City and Cardiff.

In total, Fowler bagged nine Premier League hattricks during his many stints in England’s top flight. He never featured very often for England – is this something that former Three Lions coaches may regret?

Alan Shearer

The leading goalscorer in Premier League history, Alan Shearer’s talents as a striker were almost limitless. Despite this, he doesn’t have the most hattricks – in total, the Geordie hitman grabbed 11 during his career.

Shearer is perhaps best known for his time at Newcastle and Blackburn Rovers, but he also featured frequently for Southampton as a youngster.

While never the quickest, Shearer’s lethal right foot and predatory instincts in the box meant he never really needed it. Who could possibly top one of the greatest strikers in English history?

Sergio Aguero

Sitting at number one with 12 Premier League hattricks is Sergio Aguero – a Manchester City mainstay for ten years, he scored 184 league goals in that time.

He spent his entire Premier League stint at City, playing under Roberto Mancini, Manuel Pellegrini and Pep Guardiola – all of whom were very keen for him to lead the line.

Is Sergio Aguero the greatest legend in City’s history? He’s certainly the Citizen’s best striker in the Premier League era so far – however, given time, Erling Haaland may have something to say about that.
