Ex-Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has named former Chelsea captain John Terry, ex-Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand and Liverpool‘s Virgil van Dijk among the five toughest defenders he has come up against in his career.
During a recent Twitter Q&A, the 33-year-old was asked by a fan who were the “most difficult” opponents he had faced, and he listed the three Premier League stars, along with Sergio Ramos and Carles Puyol:

There are no real surprises on Aguero’s list. The City legend will know better than most about the challenges of facing defenders both in the Premier League and Europe.
Having come up against both Puyol and Ramos during his time at Atletico Madrid, and having played against the likes of Terry, Ferdinand and van Dijk on numerous occasions for City, there are few in world football who are more qualified to judge than Aguero.
Undoubtedly, many, if not all, of the five players mentioned would put Aguero among the best strikers they have faced too.
