World Cup winner Lucas Hernandez rejected the chance to move to Manchester City this summer, according to reports.
The Atletico Madrid defender enjoyed a fine last season in La Liga, and again impressed for France as they lifted the World Cup during the summer.
The flying full-back’s performances in Russia caught the eye of City, who according to Spanish outlet Marca, made a bid to sign him in early August.
Manchester United are also reported to have tabled an huge £80 million offer at a similar time, and also promised to double the defender’s wages.
However such offers were unable to tempt Hernandez away from the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano, with the 22-year-old insistent he wanted to remain with Atletico.
Hernandez signed a new contract with Atleti’ in 2017 that would keep him at the club until 2022, saying at the time: “I am very happy to renew with the club of my life.”
Barcelona and Real Madrid were all also thought to be keen on the defender.
