’15 Years Minimum’ ‘Fully Deserved’ – City Fans On Social Media Back Club’s Decision To Offer 24 Year Old New Deal

Manchester City have opened negotiations with Aymeric Laporte over a new contract, according to reports in the English media.

The Frenchman only joined from Athletic Bilbao for £57m last January but it appears the club are keen to reward the defender for his fine form.

Fans on Twitter are in full agreement that Laporte is deserving of a new deal:

The 24-year-old has featured in every single Premier League game this campaign, only failing to start one match; the 2-1 win against Watford in early December.

Laporte has played alongside John Stones, Vincent Kompany and Nicolas Otamendi in the centre of defence this season.

He has also been called upon by manager Pep Guardiola to play at left-back on occasion with Benjamin Mendy having missed the majority of the season with knee problems.

Despite having many centre-back partners and having been moved out of position, Laporte has proven to be a solid and dependable presence in the backline.
