The agent of Benfica striker Darwin Nunez is currently in Italy holding discussions with a number of interested teams, according to reports in the Portuguese media.

Edgardo Lasalvia is believed to have already met officials from Inter Milan and AC Milan while Juventus are also said to be in the frame for the Uruguayan international.

It was reported at the weekend that an English Premier League side was lining up an offer for Nunez, with Manchester City, Chelsea and Newcastle thought to be the likeliest candidates.

However, Lasalvia’s trip to Italy suggests he is still trying to generate more interest in his client before a potential transfer, either in January or next summer.

It is believed that Benfica could be willing to offload Nunez for around €50m (£42m) but such a high fee would undoubtedly favour clubs in England, like City.

Pep Guardiola’s side are in need of a striker and they have a strong relationship with Benfica after doing deals for Ederson and Ruben Dias over the past few years.
