Agent Makes Statement On German World Cup Winner’s Future Amid Interest From City And Liverpool

Agent Volker Struth has effectively ruled out the possibility of Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos leaving the Bernabeu.

Reports in Germany last week suggested that both Manchester City and Liverpool were interested in the German World Cup winner, whose contract with Real expires at the end of next season. However, Struth has confirmed that the midfielder wants to retire with the La Liga club:

“I think that Toni [Kroos] will end his career at Real Madrid. He has not told me in any phone call that he would like to leave… [Kroos] and his family are very happy in Madrid”.

City boss Pep Guardiola worked with Kroos for one season during 2013/14, winning four major trophies in the process, including the Bundesliga, the Deutsche Pokal, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

It is, therefore, not a surprise that the Citizens were linked with Kroos, despite the fact that the midfielder turns 32 in January. The absence of a contract extension has undoubtedly fanned the flames in terms of the speculation but the player’s agent appears to be confident that a new deal will be agreed with Real.
