Aguero Signs New One Year Contract Extension At Manchester City

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has signed a one-year contract extension, the club have announced.

The Argentinian international’s original deal was set to expire in 2020, but he will stay with the Citizens until 2021. Explaining his decision to sign on the dotted line, the 30-year-old said it was his intention to remain at the Etihad Stadium for a decade:

“I am happy for this additional year. My idea was being here for 10 years. I’ve been here for seven years, it’s going to be 10 when the contract expires. ‘Hopefully, that’s going to happen. This was the main reason I signed.”

Aguero’s new contract is reportedly worth £220,000 a week, and he certainly merits the improved terms considering his goal record for City.

Since arriving from Atletico Madrid for £38million in 2011, he has gone on to score 204 goals in all competitions. He was a late substitute in the 2-1 loss to Lyon on Wednesday, and if he makes an appearance against Cardiff City this afternoon, he will have played 300 games for the club.

It will be a huge milestone for Aguero, who has won three Premier League titles and three League Cups during his illustrious career with the Manchester club.
