Ally McCoist Delivers Verdict On Whether “Top” Arsenal Star Will Join City This Summer

Rangers legend and talkSPORT pundit Ally McCoist has weighed in on Manchester City’s interest in signing Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney.

It has been reported that the Premier League champions made an enquiry for the Scottish international last month, after they offloaded Oleksandr Zinchenko to the Gunners. While the Citizens have not gone any further by making a formal approach for the defender, McCoist believes Tierney would be a good addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad, as long as he stays clear of injuries:

“It would be very difficult for anybody to say a move to City is not going to be a good move, however, he has had his injury problems, there’s no doubt about that. He is a top player.”

Tierney’s fitness record is the one major reservation that may be holding City back from tabling an official bid for the 25-year-old.

Over the past three years, the fullback has missed 48 matches due to various injuries, including shoulder, knee and muscular problems. There is a danger he could spend a good deal of time on the treatment table, and that would make it a big risk spending a sizeable sum to bring him to the Etihad.
