Ex-Manchester City and Manchester United striker Andrew Cole is expecting Pep Guardiola’s side to beat Arsenal to the Premier League title.

The Gunners are currently eight points ahead going into this weekend’s games but Cole says Mike Arteta’s team still have to negotiate a very tough run of fixtures in April that may cost them top spot:

“I still think Manchester City will win it… Arsenal need to go to the Etihad and Anfield! Every time I have seen Arsenal play Manchester City, they have schooled Arsenal. I mean schooled.”

“When I was playing, the manager (Sir Alex) always used to say to us, The season doesn’t get started until Easter’. That’s when you dropped points. If Arsenal come through that period, because there are mad games during that time, if they come through that dropping three or four points, then yeah (they’ll win the league).”

While City do have some difficult matches coming up as well, you only have to look at Arsenal’s next eight league games to see they have plenty of obstacles to overcome.

As Cole mentions, there are trips to Anfield and the Etihad, but they also have to face both West Ham and Newcastle away from home, while they have tricky fixtures versus Chelsea and Brighton too.

Even if the Gunners do drop points, though, City will need to be pretty much flawless during the run-in to make sure they can overhaul their rivals at the top of the table.
