Balotelli: I would join City for free

Former Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli says he still ‘loves’ the club and would relish the opportunity to return at some point in the future.

In fact, the Italian striker says he would return to the Etihad Stadium for free if the opportunity arises.

The 27-year old joined City from Inter Milan for £24m back in 2010, scoring 20 league goals in a turbulent two-and-a-half-year spell.

Balotelli will be forever remembered as one of the Premier League’s most controversial stars for reasons on and off the pitch, but despite leaving City under a bit of a cloud, he admits the time at City was among the best of his career.

“I love Manchester City. I love Manchester City fans. I love this Club,” said Balotelli.

“I would go back to City for free. For me, the year with Manchester City has been the best one of my life.

“Honestly, at the beginning, it was difficult to live in Manchester, which is different from London, and I struggled a little bit.

“But speaking of football, Manchester City are amazing. I am very happy that they have been doing so well, and I hope they will go on to win the Premier League well in advance.”
