Barcelona Look To See Off Challenge From City As They Plan Bid For The ‘New Pedri’

Barcelona will try and beat Manchester City to the signature of Las Palmas midfielder Alberto Moleiro, according to reports in the Spanish media.

Both clubs are said to be interested in the 18-year-old, who has been described as the “new Pedri” with the two players having come through the academy at Las Palmas.

Barca are believed to be hoping to shake hands on a deal for Moleiro that would mirror the one they agreed for Pedri. Las Palmas received €10m up front for the Spanish international, with additional performance-related bonuses.

Whether that would be enough to sign Moleiro, considering the interest from City and other clubs, it remains to be seen. Arsenal and AC Milan have also been keeping tabs on the teenager so Las Palmas could well get a much higher fee for the player if they trigger a bidding war.

Of course, if the player prefers a switch to the Camp Nou then City may have an uphill battle to secure his services, but we shall have to find out how this transfer battle unfolds.
