BBC Pundit Names Three City Stars And Two Chelsea Players In His Team Of The Week

Garth Crooks has selected three Manchester City players in his “team of the week” after the Citizens thrashed Arsenal at the weekend.

Ilkay Gundogan, Gabriel Jesus and Ferran Torres all got on the scoresheet in the 5-0 win over the Gunners, and Crooks reserved special praise for Gundogan:

“He was outstanding for City last season and looks like he has another important role to play to ensure his team not only retain the title, but lift the elusive Champions League.”

Two other teams also had more than one player in the BBC pundit’s eleven. Chelsea had both Cesar Azpilicueta and Antonio Rudiger included after the Blues held out with ten men against Liverpool at Anfield.

Manchester United pair David De Gea and Paul Pogba were also named by Crooks, along with Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk, Crystal Palace’s Conor Gallagher, Everton’s Andros Townsend and West Ham’s Michail Antonio.

To be fair, Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva could have been selected as well, considering they both played a crucial role in the victory against the Gunners, and manager Pep Guardiola will be keen to see his side put in more performances like that after the international break.
