Bayern Munich have “started negotiations” for Manchester City winger Leroy Sane, according to Bild.
The Bundesliga club are said to be hopeful that a deal can be struck as they think the Citizens have concerns over breaching Financial Fairplay regulations.
Bayern believe City could be open to selling a big name this summer in order to balance the books, but they have yet to table an official offer for Sane.
The German side are reportedly waiting until they get a signal from the player himself that he wants to leave the Etihad Stadium.
So far, though, they have had no indication from Sane that he wants to join them. Pep Guardiola has said the 23-year-old has yet to make up his mind over his future.
The City boss confirmed that the club have offered the winger a new deal, but they have not had a response either way up until now:
“We want him to stay and there is an offer waiting to talk with his agents to extend the contract. It is not in our hands. He has to decide. If he wants to leave, he can do it but we will be sad. Hopefully, he stays.”
