Carragher Names ‘Absolute Dynamite’ City Ace Ahead Of Liverpool Star In Team Of The Season

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has named Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero in his Premier League team of the season.

The former Liverpool defender opted against selecting Reds forward Roberto Firmino ahead of the City legend, citing the fact that the Argentine had been excellent throughout the course of the campaign:

“I have gone for Sergio Aguero. Whenever he plays, Aguero is absolute dynamite. At one point, people were talking about Firmino being in this position, but I actually think Firmino has had better seasons.”

“He’s had a really good season but I do not think he’s done enough to get in the team of the year. I went for Aguero.”

Aguero continues to be absolutely lethal in front of goal, having scored 16 goals in 22 league appearances, as well as hitting the back of the net 23 times in all competitions.

City supporters think the 31-year-old should be in contention for player of the year as well, alongside Kevin De Bruyne, with the forward showing no signs of slowing down despite it being his ninth season in English football.

Since arriving from Atletico Madrid in 2011, Aguero has scored an incredible 180 league goals, and when he does finally leave the Etihad Stadium, he will be heralded as one of the club’s all-time greats.
