Manchester City and Chelsea are both “keen” on snapping up Arsenal midfielder Ethan Nwaneri, according to Goal reporter Charles Watts.
The reliable journalist claims that the two clubs are trying to tempt the teenager into leaving the Gunners before he signs his first professional contract.
Nwaneri became the youngest player in Premier League history when he came on as a late substitute against Brentford back in September.
The fact that he hasn’t made an appearance since then suggests it was an attempt by Arsenal to convince the 15-year-old that there is a path to the first team.
With Nwaneri having not put pen to paper on a new deal, though, the London club are powerless to prevent him from leaving, with City seemingly keeping an eye on developments.
Manager Pep Guardiola’s decision to introduce Rico Lewis into the first team this season does demonstrate the Premier League champions’ commitment to bringing through young players.
It remains to be seen, though, whether Nwaneri can be persuaded to make the move to Manchester.
