Chelsea Linked With Shock Move For Manchester City Defender

Chelsea are weighing up a potential bid for Manchester City centre-back John Stones, according to the Football Insider.

The website claims that the 26-year-old has been discussed as a potential option among the Blues’ recruitment department as manager Frank Lampard looks to reinforce his defence this summer.

Stones will hold discussions with City boss Pep Guardiola at the end of the season, and it is expected that he will be offloaded when the transfer window opens.

The England international has struggled for form and fitness this campaign, having made just 12 starts in the Premier League.

City won’t expect to recoup all of the £50m they paid Everton for Stones four years ago but there are a number of teams reportedly interested in the defender.

As well as Chelsea, Arsenal are also said to be keeping tabs on the centre-back, with former assistant manager Mikel Arteta keen on working with the player once again.
