RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Christopher Nkunku has refused to be drawn on speculation linking him with a move to Manchester City.

The 23-year-old was linked with the Citizens, Chelsea and Real Madrid in the French press last week when it was claimed that the three clubs had held discussions with his agent Pini Zahavi.

When asked to address his future, Nkunku simply stated it would be counterproductive to be worrying about a transfer when he is focused on performing well for Leipzig:

“If I was thinking of other clubs, we might as well forget our season goals. Big goals of our own are only realistic if we achieve something with Leipzig. Otherwise, these questions do not arise. I still have a contract until 2024 and I feel very comfortable at RB Leipzig.”

Nkunku was extremely impressive in Leipzig’s 6-3 defeat to City in the Champions League group stage game last month, bagging a hat-trick on the night.

The Frenchman is able to play in a number of different positions. As well as being a number 10, he has had spells as a wide man and in a false nine role. His flexibility will no doubt attract manager Pep Guardiola who likes to have adaptable players in his squad.
