City Agree To Pay 17M For Swiss International Who Is Already In The UK For His Medical

Manchester City have agreed a fee with Borussia Dortmund for centre-back Manuel Akanji, according to reports in the UK.

The Premier League champions are expected to pay £15m up front for the Swiss international, with another £1.7m in add-ons.

Akanji has been linked with Manchester United and Arsenal in the past, and there has been a lot of speculation about his future this summer after it emerged he wouldn’t be signing a new contract with Dortmund.

The 27-year-old has less than twelve months remaining on his current deal, and it appears City have decided to take advantage of the situation.

It is believed that Akanji is already in the UK as he looks to seal his move ahead of tomorrow’s transfer deadline. A medical has been booked and, if there are no hitches, he will be a City player very soon.

The defender is expected to provide cover for the likes of Aymeric Laporte, with the Spaniard having yet to return to full fitness following knee surgery.
