City And Arsenal Join PSG In Race For Senegalese Midfield Enforcer

Manchester City and Arsenal have both joined the race for Everton holding midfielder Idrissa Gueye, according to reports in England.

The Senegalese international is said to have handed in a transfer request as he looks to force a move away from Goodison Park.

Paris Saint-Germain are believed to have had a £21m bid turned down by Everton for Gueye and the Toffees are adamant that the midfielder won’t be leaving at any price.

City boss Pep Guardiola is said to be keen on finding a replacement for Fernandinho and the Senegalese midfield enforcer would certainly fit the bill. At 29, though, he would only be a short-term solution.

Still, it appears PSG would be the player’s preferred destination, with reports from France suggesting that a new £26m offer from the Ligue One side could be accepted by Everton.

Gueye has played 94 games for the Merseyside club since arriving from Aston Villa for £7.1m in August 2016.
