City And Barcelona On Alert As Bayern Star Hints At Possible Exit

Bayern Munich defender Joshua Kimmich has opened the door to leaving the Bundesliga giants after stating he doesn’t know what the future may hold for him as a player.

Speaking to the German media, the 24-year-old was asked whether he could see himself leading the next generation of young talent at the German club. Kimmich’s answer was surprising:

“You definitely ask yourself these questions… I can’t really answer them right now. Because I don’t know what’s best for my career in two or three years.”

The Frankfurter Rundschau newspaper suggests that Manchester City and Barcelona would be the two likeliest destinations for the German international.

City boss Pep Guardiola managed Kimmich for eighteen months before his departure from the Allianz Arena in 2016, and it is believed the Spaniard remains a keen admirer of the player’s talents.

The German is able to play in a number of positions, having initially started as a right-back before being moved into a holding midfield role. Under Guardiola, he even played as a centre-back at times during the 2015/16 season demonstrating his versatility.
