City And Chelsea Both Plotting £46m Summer Raid For Next Pirlo

Manchester City remain hot on the trail of Brescia midfielder Sandro Tonali, according to reports in Italy.

Pep Guardiola’s side are, however, not the only team interested in the 19-year-old with the likes of Chelsea, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Barcelona also keen on the Italian international.

Tonali is expected to fetch around €50m (£46m) with Brescia’s owner Massimo Cellino likely to auction off the teenager when the transfer window reopens.

The Italian has been hailed as the next Andrea Pirlo by some observers, and City have tried to sign a deep-lying playmaker in the past.

Jorginho was on the club’s radar before he opted to move to Chelsea instead two years ago, but they have not looked to sign a similar player since then.

Rodri was brought in for £62.8m last year but the holding midfielder has a very different skillset to someone like Tonali. Whether City will make a formal offer for the Italian this summer, we shall have to wait and see.
