Manchester City and Liverpool are still “closely monitoring the situation” of Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka, according to The Times.

The 20-year-old has recently stated that he is confident he will sign a contract extension with the Gunners but negotiations have now dragged on for a number of months.

Saka is currently earning between £30,000 and £70,000 a week, depending on what report you read, but he will be expecting a bumper salary increase to reflect his importance to the team.

City’s interest in Saka has been disputed by local media sources in Manchester but there has been more than one national newspaper that has claimed the Premier League champions are keen on the England international.

With Riyad Mahrez now 31 years of age, it would not be surprising if City’s recruitment department are already looking at potential long-term replacements and, if Saka does become available, he would definitely be a player worth looking at.
