City And Liverpool Vying To Sign 26M Rated Italian Teenager

Manchester City and Liverpool are both interested in signing Atalanta centre-back Giorgio Scalvini, according to reports in the Italian media.

The 18-year-old has already been capped three times by Italy at senior level and it is believed that there will be a scramble for the player’s signature next summer.

Scalvini’s potential means that, in addition to City and Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Inter Milan are also looking to recruit the defender.

The Nerazzurri are particularly keen on the teenager, and it is believed they are already preparing an offer that could tempt Atalanta. Giovanni Fabbian (who is impressing out on loan at Reggina) could be used in a potential swap deal, with Scalvini moving in the other direction.

City could, though, steal a march on their rivals if they are prepared to match Atalanta’s reported asking price for the centre-half, which is said to be €30m (£26m).
