Manchester City and Manchester United are both considering January bids for Rochdale starlet Luke Matheson, according to reports in England.
The 17-year-old made the headlines last month when he scored the equaliser against the Red Devils in the Carabao Cup third-round tie, before Rochdale eventually lost on penalties.
Despite scoring at Old Trafford, Matheson is ostensibly a right-back, and he has only made 15 appearances in senior football over the past two seasons.
The England Under 18 international is a player in demand with Chelsea having tracked the defender in the past. With a number of other Premier League teams also said to be in the mix, Rochdale are believed to be holding out for a fee in the region of £10m.
Matheson would certainly not be ready for first-team games straight away but his potential could see both City and United battle it out for the teenager when the transfer window reopens.
