City And United Vying To Sign Albanian Centre Half Following Scouting Trip

Manchester City were one of four teams who sent scouts to see Hellas Verona defender Marash Kumbulla in action against Juventus on Saturday, according to reports in the Italian media.

Manchester United, Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund are also keeping close tabs on the 20-year-old who has been part of a solid defensive unit this season.

Verona have conceded just 24 goals in 23 league games this campaign, the fourth-best record in the league, and they have been performing above all expectations, currently sitting sixth in Serie A after their surprise 2-1 win over Juve this weekend.

City are looking for a new centre-back, and it appears Kumbulla is one of the names being looked at ahead of the summer. The likes of Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar, Villarreal’s Pau Torres, Benfica’s Ruben Dias and even Brighton’s Lewis Dunk are also reportedly under consideration.

Kumbulla would likely be a more economical alternative but at 20 years of age, the Albanian international does have tremendous potential for the future.
