City Are Among Four Premier League Clubs Pursuing Spanish Ace With 31.2M Release Clause

Manchester City are one of the Premier League teams keeping tabs on Villarreal winger Alex Baena, according to reports in the Spanish media.

Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal have joined Pep Guardiola’s side in tracking the 21-year-old, who has been in outstanding form for the Yellow Submarine this season.

Baena has already scored six goals and provided two assists in just 10 appearances, despite manager Unai Emery having only started him in Europa Conference League fixtures.

The Spanish Under 21 international spent last campaign out on loan at Girona, helping the club achieve promotion back to the top flight.

After returning to El Madrigal in the summer, Baena has moved on to another level, and, with a reported release clause of just €35m (£31.2m), it is not surprising that City are keeping a close eye on him.

Villarreal are said to be keen on tying him down to a new contract and increasing his buyout fee so we shall see how this transfer story develops.
