City Backed To Make Move For Arsenal’s “Best Player” Who Has “All The Tools” To Work Under Guardiola

Neil Lennon claims Arsenal fullback Kieran Tierney would be the perfect addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad.

The former Celtic head coach, who managed Tierney before he left for the Gunners in 2019, says the Scottish international has the ability to make it at Manchester City:

“When I had him at Celtic, Kieran was really confused about what to do in terms of leaving because the club meant so much to him. Ambition and finances meant he made the right call for his career. For me, he’s Arsenal’s best player.”

“I could see him going to Manchester City, he’s got all the tools to play for them. He’s maybe not got the all-rounded left foot that Andy [Robertson] has, that natural whip, but he’s got everything else and he sees things. He’s so athletic and powerful.”

City are looking for a new left-back, but reports suggest any new addition would likely be a cheap purchase to plug the gap if the club choose to offload Benjamin Mendy in the coming weeks.

The Citizens have been linked with Sporting Lisbon’s Nuno Mendes over the past few months. The teenage defender has a €70m (£60m) release clause, but the Premier League champions aren’t reportedly prepared to make a move this summer.

Guardiola seems focused on reshaping his attack with Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish thought to be City’s two main transfer targets; both of which could cost in excess of £100m.
