City, Chelsea And Newcastle All Linked As Summer Bid For 42M Rated Uruguayan Marksman Is Lined Up

An English Premier League side is “prepared” to make an offer for Benfica striker Darwin Nunez, according to Record.

The Portuguese tabloid are not sure who is lining up the bid but they claim that Manchester City, Chelsea or Newcastle are the likeliest possibilities.

Benfica are not willing to let Nunez leave midway through the season but the proposal will reportedly stipulate a move in the summer, which would make the Portuguese club more amenable.

The Uruguayan international is thought to be worth around €50m (£42m), and with Ferran Torres seemingly angling for a switch to Barcelona, Nunez could well be the Citizens’ replacement.

There is believed to be interest in the 22-year-old from Atletico Madrid and AC Milan as well, but City would undoubtedly be a more attractive destination for the player.

This season, Nunez has scored eight goals in 15 appearances, including three in the Champions League group stages.
