City complete 60m Mahrez signing!

Manchester City have completed the signing of Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez, breaking their current club transfer fee record in the process.

The 27-year-old cost the Blues £60m, and signs a lucrative five-year deal at the Etihad.

The Algerian becomes City’s first signing of the summer, and will compete with the likes of Sane and Sterling for a role in the starting XI.

City tried to sign the player back in January, but were put off by Leicester’s stubborn evaluation of the star. Now though, they finally have their man, and no one is happier than Mahrez himself.

Speaking after he signed for City, Mahrez said the club’s style of play is “perfect” for him, describing them as a club which is “redefining the English game”.

“Watching them from afar has been a pleasure,” Mahrez said.

“Pep Guardiola is committed to playing attacking football, and City’s performances last season were outstanding.

“I think we can be successful over the coming years and I believe my own game can develop under Pep’s management.”

Mahrez scored 48 goals in 179 appearances for the Foxes, and was named the PFA Players’ Player of the Year during Leicester’s incredible Premier League win during the 15/16 season.
