City Eye Up 17M Rated Croatian International As They Consider Cheaper Cucurella Alternative

Manchester City have joined Bayern Munich and Barcelona in registering an interest in Stuttgart’s Borna Sosa, according to reports in the German media.

The Croatian international could be sold for between €20m (£17m) and €25m (£21m), which would make him a lot cheaper than Marc Cucurella, with Brighton expected to demand in excess of £50m for the left-back.

City are likely to raise at least £30m from the sale of Oleksandr Zinchenko, who is closing in on a switch to Arsenal, so the funds will be there to go after Cucurella. The question is, though, would it be worth paying double the price for the 23-year-old when someone like Sosa is available for a lot less?

The Stuttgart defender is just a year older than Cucurella, and he had an impressive record in the Bundesliga last season, scoring once and providing eight assists in 28 appearances. The likes of Chelsea have also been linked with the Croatian in recent months so, even if he doesn’t end up at the Etihad, he could still move to England this summer.
