City fans bow down to “serial winner” Gabriel Jesus after Brazilian nets historic goal

Manchester City fans have heaped praise on youngster Gabriel Jesus after the Brazilian hit one of the most important goals in the club’s history yesterday afternoon.

City were 0-0 with Southampton deep into stoppage time in their final game of the season when Jesus hit a 94th minute winner to send the travelling fans into elation at St Marys.

But the goal was far more important than just a last gasp winner.

The Brazilian’s strike took City to exactly 100 points in the Premier League – a feat never before achieved in the English top flight.

“Still I cannot believe it. Premier League, 100 points. It’s a massive achievement,” said City boss Pep Guardiola after yesterday’s victory.

“During the game we were focused, and at the end, excellent pass from Kevin and amazing finish from Gabriel made the difference and achieved that record. 100 points is a lot, 50 points at home, 50 points away, it means how stable, how good we were all this season.”

Jesus’ strike also marked a landmark achievement for the 21-year-old. His winner was his 21st goal of the season in all competitions, equalling his best ever tally for a single season – set during 2016 with former club Palmeiras.

At such a young age, the Brazil international’s future looks bright, and the Manchester City fans can’t wait to see what he can bring to their club in the years to come …
