City Given Major Boost As Journalist Dismisses Chelsea’s Interest In Bundesliga Star

Chelsea are not interested in signing Bayern Munich defender David Alaba, according to Sky Deutschland reporter Max Bielefield.

Reports in Spain in recent days have suggested that the Blues were set to hold talks with Alaba in January about a free transfer in the summer but it is believed that no discussions will take place. This is a big boost for Manchester City with the Citizens having been named as one of three clubs, along with Real Madrid and Barcelona, who have shown a “concrete interest” in the Austrian.

Alaba has worked with manager Pep Guardiola before at Bayern and with the Spaniard still reportedly keen to strengthen his options at left-back, the 28-year-old would certainly fit the bill.

The Austrian international has actually played as a centre-back over the past two years, but he has a lot of experience as a fullback and his ability to play in a number of positions would undoubtedly make him an attractive option for Guardiola.
