City Handed Difficult Champions League Round Of 16 Draw

Manchester City will face off against Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League. The Citizens will travel to the Bernabeu for the first leg in mid-February, with the return fixture at the Etihad in early March.

Zinedine Zidane’s side have only lost once in the league this season, but they are not the force of old, having finished behind Paris Saint-Germain in the group stages.

Still, it is a difficult draw, but manager Pep Guardiola will be hoping to do better than the last time City faced Real in Europe. Back in 2016, they lost out to the La Liga side in the semi-finals.

Considering they are currently 14 points behind leaders Liverpool in the league, the Manchester club could well be focusing on winning the Champions League this season.

It will be a test of their credentials when they do face Real early next year, but they will certainly be confident of getting a result.
