City Handed Massive Transfer Boost As Star Gives Green Light To £62.6m Move

Manchester City look poised to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodri, according to reports in England.

The Citizens had been waiting on the player’s decision over whether he would make the move to the Etihad, and it is believed the 22-year-old has now asked Atletico to be allowed to leave.

Rodri has a €70m (£62.6m) release clause in his contract, which City have been prepared to pay, and with the midfielder now having given the green light, a deal should be finalised soon.

The Spaniard has also been linked with Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain but it appears he has his heart set on a switch to Pep Guardiola’s side.

City’s transfer dealings are not likely to stop there, though, with a move for Juventus fullback Joao Cancelo also in the works.

The Manchester club are said to be prepared to pay £45m for the Portuguese international but Juve are demanding slightly more for the transfer to go ahead.

Cancelo was a regular for Juventus last season, after having made a €40m move from Valencia in July 2018. He played 34 times, scoring one goal and providing eight assists.
