Manchester City are keeping close tabs on Real Sociedad forward Mikel Oyarzabal, according to Eurosport.
It is believed that the Citizens are unlikely to revive their interest in Tottenham’s Harry Kane in future transfer windows and they have been looking at other options.
Oyarzabal would not be a like-for-like alternative, as he is usually played either from the right or left-hand side of the forward line, but he has had a very good start to the season in front of goal.
The Spanish international has hit the back of the net four times in four La Liga appearances so far this campaign, but City’s interest in the player isn’t a recent development, with the club’s scouting department having tracked him for quite some time.
Oyarzabal would also be substantially cheaper than Kane, with reports suggesting that the 24-year-old has a £67m release clause in his contract.
With City looking at other potential targets, and United having signed Cristiano Ronaldo, Kane looks set to remain with Spurs for the foreseeable future.
