City Join Arsenal And Spurs In Holding Talks With 33 Cap Brazilian International Playmaker

Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham have all been in discussions with the agent of Lyon attacking midfielder Lucas Paqueta, according to ESPN Brasil.

It is believed that the three Premier League clubs and Paris Saint-Germain had meetings about signing the 24-year-old “in recent weeks” but talks didn’t progress beyond initial enquiries.

Paqueta performed well for Lyon last season, scoring 11 goals and providing seven assists in all competitions, but it’s hardly a record to encourage City to shell out a sizeable fee on the player.

The Brazilian is, though, a regular starter for his country, having now racked up 33 caps, and he is expected to be in the squad for the World Cup later this year.

If Paqueta does have a good tournament in Qatar, it is likely that Lyon would look to cash in. For the time being, though, it appears that City have decided against making a move for him.
