City Join United And Arsenal In Race For Ivorian Teenage Sensation Who ‘Plays Like Messi’

Manchester City have joined the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal in pursuing Atalanta winger Amad Traore, according to Goal.

The 17-year-old reportedly impressed the Citizens when he faced their Under 19s in the UEFA Youth League earlier this season. He scored and provided an assist as his side came out 3-1 winners in a group stage match back in October.

Traore actually made his senior debut only a few days after that performance, scoring on his first appearance as a substitute in a 7-1 win over Udinese.

The teenager has since played two more matches in Serie A, making cameos against Juventus in November and versus Parma in January.

Traore generally plays as a right-winger, cutting in onto his stronger left foot, but he has also been employed as a number ten as well playing on the left flank. Atalanta captain Papu Gomez has even jokingly said:

“He plays like Messi. To stop him in training, we have to kick him!”

Whether the Ivorian will actually reach those type of levels, we shall have to wait and see, but City are certainly monitoring the player’s progress.
