Manchester City are keen on signing Le Harve central midfielder Pape Gueye, according to reports in the UK.

Arsenal were heavily linked with the 21-year-old last month, but it seems that competition has increased for the highly-rated young prospect with the Citizens, Manchester United and Liverpool all having joined the race.

Gueye has been likened to a hybrid of Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kante by some observers, but while that could well be an exaggeration, there is no doubt that he is a talented young player who has a bright future in the game.

The former France Under 19 international is currently plying his trade in Ligue Two, France’s second division, having made 25 league appearances this season for Le Harve.

Gueye has even been captaining his side on occasion this campaign, despite his young age, which demonstrates how highly he is rated by his current club. Whether he can make the step up to the top level, though, it remains to be seen.
