City Keeping Watchful Eye On Brazilian Wonderkid With £62m Release Clause

Manchester City are among the clubs monitoring Flamengo attacking midfielder Reinier, according to Globo Esporte.

The Brazilian publication reports that the Citizens, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan are all keeping a close eye on the starlet’s contract situation.

Reinier currently has a release clause of €70m (£62m) but the 17-year-old’s current deal will expire in just over eighteen months time.

This has led Flamengo to try and get the Brazilian Under 17 international to sign a new contract as quickly as possible. They are particularly mindful of the U17 World Cup which takes place in Brazil this October.

Reinier will likely feature prominently at the tournament and his club are keen to have the player tied down to a longer professional contract until 2024.

However, the player’s father and his agent Giuliano Bertolucci have close ties with Kia Joorabchian which could help facilitate a move to a European club rather than staying with Flamengo.
