City Legend Beats Salah And Drogba In Poll For ‘Greatest African Premier League Player’

Manchester City legend Yaya Toure finished above both Liverpool forward Mo Salah and ex-Chelsea striker Didier Drogba in a poll to find who is the “Greatest African Premier League Player.”

Over 6500 people responded to a survey conducted by Sporting Index on Twitter, with Toure coming out on top with 41% of the vote. Drogba finished second on 34.6%, Salah was third on 20% while former Arsenal and Portsmouth player Kanu came fourth on only 4.3%:

Toure was a complete midfielder, and his stats and trophy haul during his time in England make it very hard to argue against him being a deserving winner.

In his eight years at City, the Ivorian scored 79 goals and provided 50 assists in 316 appearances. He also won three Premier League trophies, the FA Cup, two League Cups and the Community Shield whilst at the Etihad Stadium.

While Toure can be overlooked by some pundits, he will never be forgotten by City fans, who witnessed a quite remarkable player in his prime years.
