City Linked With Shock £17.4m Move For United Flop Who Turned Down Club Two And Half Years Ago

Manchester City have revived their interest in Alexis Sanchez, according to reports in the Chilean media. The 31-year-old turned down a move to the Etihad before opting to make the switch to Manchester United in 2018.

Since then, the former Arsenal forward has struggled for form and fitness, spending the whole of this season on loan with Inter Milan in Italy.

Until recently, it was thought Sanchez would be sent back to United but, after a recent upturn in performances, the Nerazzurri are now interested in signing him on a permanent basis.

United are reportedly asking for around $22m (£17.4m) for the Chilean international, which is said to have grabbed City’s attention.

Whether there is any truth in this, it does seem pretty unlikely. Manager Pep Guardiola is a fan of Sanchez’s after working with him at Barcelona but the player is now well past his prime. You would have thought that Inter are still heavy favourites to snap him up.
