City Make Enquiry For France U21 Starlet But Face Major Battle With Europe’s Elite To Sign Him

Manchester City have made an approach for Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, according to reports in the UK.

The Citizens have made an enquiry regarding his availability in January or at the end of the season. The 17-year-old has also been linked with Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham in the last few months, but it is believed that City’s main rivals will be Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

Camavinga is a holding midfielder by trade and he could be a target as manager Pep Guardiola looks for a long term successor to Fernandinho.

The France Under 21 international has been a regular first-team player for Rennes this season, having made 20 league appearances for the Ligue One side, including 19 starts.

Camavinga is not the only midfielder to have been linked with City in January, with the likes of Lille’s Boubakary Soumare and Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez also reportedly on the club’s radar.
