Chelsea Legend Claude Makelele Names 3 City Stars As He Is Asked To Build His ‘Dream Player’

Ex-Chelsea midfielder Claude Makelele says he would take traits from City trio Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva to create his “Dream Player”.

Asked to build his ideal footballer by Goal‘s TikTok account, Makelele said he’d select Haaland for his speed, De Bruyne for his strength and Silva for his football IQ.

The former France international also included Kylian Mbappe for his left foot, Ousmane Dembele for his right foot and Marco Verratti for his skills.

Some may raise an eyebrow that Makelele included De Bruyne for his strength, but City supporters wouldn’t argue against the inclusions of Haaland and Silva for their respective attributes.

How have the City trio performed this season?

Haaland scored an incredible 5 goals against Luton Town midweek, taking his total in all competitions to 27 in 30 appearances. The 23-year-old will be looking to get on the scoresheet once again in the Manchester derby this weekend.

De Bruyne, meanwhile, has spent the majority of the season on the sidelines, having sustained a hamstring injury on the opening day of the campaign against Burnley. However, since returning to the field in January, the Belgian international has racked up 2 goals and 12 assists in 12 matches.

Silva has been a bit quiet in recent weeks but he did get another assist versus Luton, taking his goal contributions to 13 in 33 games this season.

Silva’s future is in doubt

Although the Portuguese international did sign a new three-year contract back in August last year, it is believed that a release clause was included that will allow him to leave for a relatively modest price this summer.

Reports suggest that if a club pays around £50m, Silva will be free to go at the end of the season.
