City Play Waiting Game As Agent Confirms Dutch Starlet’s Future Will Be Decided In “Coming Weeks”

The future of Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong will be decided in a matter of weeks, according to the Dutch international’s agent.

Reports in the Dutch media have suggested that PSG had won the race for the 21-year-old but speaking about his client, Ali Durson said the player wants his future resolved so he can focus on Ajax for the remainder of the season:

“I think the choice may be made in the coming weeks. So that after the winter break all attention can be fully focused on football for months.”

Frenkie must be able to fully focus on that. He still plays with Ajax and the Oranje for so many prizes.”

Durson’s comments very much suggest that an agreement for a summer transfer could be made imminently. In addition to PSG, Manchester City and Barcelona are also said to be keen on de Jong.

The talented midfielder has risen to prominence over the past year, having established himself in the heart of Ajax’s midfield, as well as getting his first senior cap for the Netherlands back in September.

So far this campaign, de Jong has made 26 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and contributing one assist.
