City players take to Twitter after winning Premier League title

Manchester City fans have taken to Twitter after they secured the Premier League title yesterday afternoon.

City were crowned champions of England after rivals and second placed Manchester United lost 1-0 to bottom side West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford.

The defeat for Jose Mourinho’s side left a 16 points gap between the two sides with only five games to play, meaning they were no longer able to catch the runaway leaders.

The Premier League title was City’s second trophy of the season, having won the EFL Cup earlier in the year, and manager Pep Guardiola has hailed what has been a terrific season for his side.

“It’s incredible the way we played and I am so glad to be here and be part of this club,” he said after the 3-1 win over Spurs at Wembley.

“These guys are fantastic, awesome – they are incredible.

“This club is absolutely amazing in all terms.”

Guardiola, who becomes the first Spanish manager to win the Premier League, has now won a remarkable 24 trophies in his nine-year management career.

And the players have praised the Spaniard, the squad and of course the fans after helping secure the club’s third ever Premier League title …
