Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are both keeping tabs on AC Milan left-back Theo Hernandez’s contract situation, according to reports in the Italian media.

The France international’s current deal expires in 2024 but he is earning only €1.5m (£1.27m) a year. The Rossoneri are believed to be prepared to up his salary to €3m (£2.54m) if he signs an extension until 2026 but the defender is demanding €4m (£3.39m).

At this stage, it is not thought that the gap is too difficult to bridge but Milan are reportedly feeling pressured into giving Hernandez a new contract, to end speculation about his future.

Both Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked with the 24-year-old in the past, but City are said to be the team with the greatest interest in the fullback.

Manager Pep Guardiola could do with strengthening his options on the left-flank, especially as Hernandez is naturally left-footed and has the ability to create goals. It was previously claimed that Milan may demand around €80m (£68m) for the Frenchman so we shall see whether the Citizens are prepared to pay such a figure.
