Manchester City are interested in signing Wolfsburg centre-back Micky van de Ven, according to reports in the Italian media.

It is believed that the Premier League champions, Liverpool, Barcelona, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Juventus are all weighing up summer bids for the Dutch Under 21 international.

Van de Ven has only established himself as a regular starter for Wolfsburg this season, but he does have a unique skillset. At 6ft 4,  the 21-year–old is good in the air, but he is also among the quickest defenders in the Bundesliga.

Current leaders Arsenal have also been suggested as potential suitors in other reports so it won’t be easy to secure the centre-half’s signature.

Wolfsburg are, however, not holding out for an exorbitant sum, with it being claimed that the German club could be prepared to let van de Ven leave at the end of the season for around €30m (£26m). We shall see who makes the first move for the player.
