Bruno Fernandes

Manchester City will make a formal bid for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes, according to reports in Portugal.

The 24-year-old, who has also been linked with Manchester United and Liverpool, is a player City are keen to recruit ahead of the summer transfer window.

Director of Football Txiki Begiristain has reportedly invited his counterpart Hugo Viana to the Etihad to hold talks about Fernandes.

The Premier League leaders are said to be starting the bidding at €50m (£43m), with the club believed to be prepared to go as high as €70m (£60m).

After losing out on Jorginho to Chelsea and Frenkie de Jong to Barcelona over the past year, City are keen to get their business done early this time around.

PSG are also said to be in the frame for Fernandes but the Citizens are hoping they can get a deal over the line before any other club has the chance to make their move.

The Portuguese international is an attacking midfielder, having scored 28 goals and provided 16 assists in 49 appearances for Sporting this campaign.
